The Hub is where coaches for every school hub are trained, where 100 girls a year come through the CHEZA girls' football programme, and where the community sees what an inclusive, sustainable place looks like when it is actually run that way.
Land cleared August 2026. Office and training rooms first, then the pitch and toilets, then a covered outdoor workshop platform, then the volunteer house.
Green by design
Every one of these is real work a volunteer can do on the ground.
- Solar powerTraining doesn't stop when the grid does.
- Water from the air and the roofRainwater tanks, plus three sides of the pitch netted with agricultural mesh that catches night humidity and channels it to a cistern: thousands of litres a night without touching the wells.
- Permaculture farmAlready growing, with the Permaculture Centre, feeding the girls on match day.
- Composting and seedling nurseryWaste back into the field; trees and crops raised for the Hub and partner schools.
- Upcycled eco-playgroundPlay equipment from tyres, timber and reclaimed materials.
- Grass suited to coral soilA FIFA-size pitch grassed with a local species that lives on rainfall, so girls play on grass, not dust.
- Taught, not just builtEnvironmental responsibility is in the Purposeful Play curriculum. Here the girls see it every week.
Inclusive in both directions.
For girls: Goalball for the visually impaired on a dedicated platform, sign language, level access to pitch, rooms and toilets, coaches trained in disability inclusion.
For volunteers: the volunteer house and working areas are designed for accessibility, and every volunteer is matched to work that fits them. Very few organisations can say the second half. We want to.
