Play with a purpose.

Every session is football plus something a girl takes home: her health, her rights, her voice.

A WEZA team celebrating

This season

Zanzibar's first girls' league

Eight teams. Monthly match days with professional referees. A bus from every village and a meal for every girl. A tournament to end the season in spring 2027. Nothing like it has existed for girls here before.

Purposeful Play

The method behind everything: games, then a guided conversation that turns what happened on the pitch into learning about health, rights and the environment. 70+ coaches and teachers trained, three quarters of them women.

Health and dignity

Menstrual health, nutrition, wellbeing and protection from violence, taught through play. Every girl receives reusable pads, with Safepad and Real Relief. Most now train and attend school through their period.

Inclusion

Goalball for girls with visual impairments. Sign language on the pitch. Girls with disabilities play in the teams, not beside them.

Dream Big, Play Loud, Kick On

Pitch training for 100 girls, at least 15 with disabilities. Monthly friendlies. An animated film made with the girls. Eight days of training with Danish coach Kim Poulsen in January 2027, and a tournament in spring with ambassadors and ministers invited.

CHEZA school hubs

Weekly football and Purposeful Play inside schools, delivered by coaches we train and mentor. Funding is confirmed for the first ten hubs, with the Ministry of Education partnership under way. The CHEZA Hub at Dunga Kiembeni is where those coaches are trained.

The CHEZA Hub

Every programme is safeguarding-led.

Coaches, volunteers and partners follow our safeguarding policy. Sessions run in safe, girls-only spaces. Talent pathways are built so opportunity never comes with exploitation.
