Theory of change: five pathways to lasting impact

WEZA's work operates through five interlinked pathways, because sustainable impact needs aligned change at several levels at once.

Safe spaces and access

Gender-responsive safe spaces where girls take part freely, without fear of violence, harassment or exclusion.

Capacity and leadership

Skills, confidence and agency built through training, mentorship and the Purposeful Play methodology.

Community norms

Engaging families and communities to shift norms around girls' participation in sport, education and leadership.

Systems change

Embedding inclusive, safeguarding-compliant practice into schools, institutions and policy.

Ethical pathways

Safeguarding-led talent pathways that offer opportunity without exploitation or abuse.
